An Algerian man who stabbed his housemate in a row that started over spilt oil during Ramadan, when fasting had caused “a considerable amount of irritability”, has been jailed for three years.
Housseyn Chaoui (30) who is originally from Algeria, has nine previous convictions, including those for threatening and abusive behaviour and damaging property. The court heard he has no family here and very little English.
