Today, the European Parliament gave us a political mandate to begin negotiations with the Council on the Military Mobility Regulation.
It is time to cut the excessive administrative burden that continues to slow down our armed forces and move towards a harmonised, streamlined system for military transport authorisations across the European Union.
These are practical measures that don’t require a lot funding but can deliver immediate improvements to military mobility.
Parliament stands ready to engage constructively and reach an agreement by the end of the year.
We look forward to working with the Irish Presidency to deliver a framework that strengthens Europe's ability to respond quickly and effectively to security challenges.
