Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was gunned down near the Las Vegas Strip, the man accused of orchestrating his death is finally standing trial.
Jury selection began Monday morning before Clark County District Court Judge Carli Kierny, officially marking the start of proceedings in a case many believed might never reach a courtroom.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis, 63, faces a single count of murder with a deadly weapon, with prosecutors alleging a gang-related motive. He has pleaded not guilty and rejected a plea deal in the final days leading up to trial, choosing instead to fight the charge despite facing a potential life sentence if convicted.
Prosecutors are expected to rely heavily on Davis’ own past statements, including his published memoir and several recorded interviews, as key evidence. Those statements played a major role in the investigation that ultimately led to his arrest in 2023.
What makes this case particularly unusual is that Davis is, in many ways, the state’s own star witness against himself. Prosecutors plan to use his words to establish what happened on the night Tupac was killed.
His defense, however, argues that Davis exaggerated or fabricated some of his claims to generate publicity and sell his book.
Suge Knight, who was riding alongside Tupac when the shooting occurred, is expected to testify, along with members of Tupac’s family.
The trial is expected to last about a month and will be livestreamed, giving the public a rare front-row seat to one of hip-hop’s most enduring mysteries as it finally reaches a courtroom.
🚨💔 Enzo Fernández on Argentina’s silent struggle before the World Cup final:
🗣️ “We knew Messi’s father was critically ill.
We even visited him in the hospital. Leo was hurting, but he still gave everything on the pitch.
“Hours before the final, we got the devastating news that his condition had worsened. Everything went silent.
“People only saw the result. They didn’t know what was happening behind the scenes. What Messi did for us that night, I’ll never forget.”
💔🇦🇷
This scene still gives me chills.
Rhaenyra standing in front of three dragons like she already owns the entire realm.
No army, no speech, just pure Targaryen aura.

This was the exact moment there was no going back.
Aemond lost control,Lucerys lost his life.
And the Targaryen civil war officially became something much darker.
Who do you blame for what happened here?
