Robinhood gave AI agents permission to trade real stocks. Now some of them simply refuse to place the order. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev says more than 100,000 people have created agentic accounts. Connect Claude Code, Codex, or another compatible agent, and it can use Robinhood’s tools directly. It can inspect your account, read tax lots, collect market data, build a strategy, and place equity or options trades without opening the phone app. That used to require a programmer, expensive market access, and deep integrations with financial companies. Now an ordinary user can describe the strategy in plain English. But Robinhood found a strange problem. Sometimes the agent refuses to trade. Not because it discovered that the trade would lose money. Vlad says current models may simply lack enough trading-action data and recommend that the user open Robinhood and place the order manually.
