This was the first time I spent more than a day in Switzerland and I'm starting to understand what you swissmaxers are talking about. The only downside - I had to refill my fiat debit card twice, it's quite expensive. I've also tried Bitblik with TWINT but the problem is I'm supposed to confirm the other party received the funds. I don't know if they did though, I tried paying a printed static QR code and the paper has no feedback about received payments.

Compare something like Sparrow Wallet to ColdCard. Both had source available. Sparrow is an open source project (true open source - free to modify and distribute/use), a public good that people should audit and there's no pressure on @craigraw to pay for bounties, etc. ColdCard is a commercial company. They are selling a product and they are responsible for security. Their source code was made available, but people couldn't reuse it (license had forbidden it). So essentially there was almost no incentive for people to audit it. People who are not paying ColdCard money won't audit it because they can't use the code anyway, so they don't care. People who are paying ColdCard money assume that a commercial product is well audited by third parties, because what they're selling is a security product. They thought they were paying for security. ColdCard was selling a vaporware though, which is basically a scam. Nicely looking calculator with buzzwords instead of real security.

This is one of the handy reasons to have a residency in Paraguay. I order all the essentials including medicine, electronics, etc while there. I use a forwarding address in the US. Customs and forwarding is per kg with zero bureaucracy. They don't even need to see an invoice. It's quite funny that I have to use a South American country to actually order stuff and that it is easier than shipping to Europe. But that's the situation you get when your country decides to join a cartel that is proud that their main innovation is forbidding things (which regulation is - everything that is not forbidden is allowed). On a related note, I also use a Paraguayan data plan. EU wanted to regulate the prices of roaming to make it more accessible. I get the unregulated plan that is cheaper than the regulated one that was made to make roaming cheaper. 🤡
