A four-year CS degree costs $200,000 and produces graduates who understand algorithms and theory for a job that has shifted to something else entirely! AI engineering job openings grew 143% year over year in early 2026. The job posting still says CS degree required because that requirement was copied from a template written for a different job. The stack that fills those roles has a sequence. Python properly. SQL and data handling, because most real AI engineering work is data work wearing an AI costume. Git, the command line, and basic Linux. REST APIs in production including what happens when the call fails. Embeddings and vector search. RAG was built end-to-end, not just described. The gap between people who can explain RAG and people who have actually built a working pipeline that handles real messy documents is the gap between candidates who get filtered out and candidates who get hired. Agent frameworks and tools use on top of that foundation. The biggest mistake is treating this as a buffet. Build in sequence. Each layer depends on the one before it. Bookmark so you do not lose it! FOR 40 YEARS YOU LAUNCHED APPS. Click. Type. Wait. NVIDIA and Microsoft just ended that era. RTX Spark is a 1-petaflop superchip built into a laptop thin enough to be 14mm and light enough to be 3 pounds. Not a data center. Not a cloud subscription. A laptop that runs 120-billion-parameter models with 1 million token context locally, privately, and offline. Hermes Agent and OpenClaw are already building native Windows apps for it. Adobe is rearchitecting Photoshop and Premiere from the ground up for it. Jensen Huang called it the new PC. 128GB unified memory. Full Blackwell GPU. All-day battery. The PC just stopped being a tool. It became a teammate. Available this fall from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and MSI. Follow @neil_xbt for more AI and hardware intelligence.
