Thousands of Americans are gathering on the National Mall TODAY for a powerful day of prayer, praise, and patriotism as we chart the course for America’s next 250 years and rededicate ourselves to ONE NATION UNDER GOD. 🇺🇸🙏
ALL DAY. WATCH HERE ➡️
On this day 250 years ago, our forefathers gathered for a national day of fasting and prayer. Today, Americans will come together again as one Nation under God.
This is who we are and who we’ve always been.
.@POTUS: "We are leading China by a lot in the AI race... and we’re going to win it... President Xi was very surprised at how well we've done with AI. When it started, they took this gigantic lead, and now, we are substantially ahead of them in AI."
.@POTUS: "I think the most important thing is relationship. It's all about relationship. I have a very good relationship with President Xi, and with China... trade has been very strong... there's a lot of things happening for the farmers."
On May 14 and 15, the United States hosted two days of highly-productive talks between Israel and Lebanon. The April 16 cessation of hostilities will be extended by 45 days to enable further progress. The State Department will reconvene the political track of negotiations on June 2 and June 3. In addition, a security track will be launched at the Pentagon on May 29 with military delegations from both countries. We hope these discussions will advance lasting peace between the two countries, full recognition of each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and establishing genuine security along their shared border.
"Did you talk about fentanyl at all?"
@POTUS: "I did... As you know, I put a tariff on because of fentanyl... the fentanyl is way down from where it was, and it could be because of the tariff penalty."
.@POTUS on AI discussions with China: "We're leading by a lot, but they're second, and they're very strong — and we talked about possibly working together for guardrails."
.@POTUS: "We had a great stay. It was an amazing period of time. President Xi’s an incredible guy. We got along, made a lot of great trade deals, including over 200 planes from Boeing, with a promise of 750 planes, which will be, by far, the largest order ever..."
President Trump meets with President Xi in Zhongnanhai.
"I want to thank you very much. This has been an incredible visit. I think a lot of good has come of it. We've made some fantastic trade deals—great for both countries..."
After years of unjust detention by the illegitimate Cuban regime, today we welcome @DamasdBlanco freedom advocate Sissi Abascal and her family after being forced into exile. The Trump Administration remains committed to the release of all political prisoners and a future free of tyranny for the Cuban people.
There’s a reason President Trump is respected by world leaders, and it’s because he’s consistently shown a level of strength that we haven’t seen from our Commander in Chief in modern history.
.@POTUS on his state visit to China: "We have a relationship, he and I, and we've been working together a long time. We've gotten along well. When I first came here, China was really taking advantage of the United States—he understands that—and now, we do great with China."
SECRETARY RUBIO: We want Cubans not to have to leave their island to be successful. But they can’t because their current economic model is broken and it’ll never change as long as the close-minded people that are there now are running it.
SECRETARY RUBIO: The Strait will open and we’ll see gas prices go down. But I would also say that there’s a price attached to a nuclear Iran.
If they ever acquire a nuclear weapon, what would stop them from controlling the Strait then? It would be a permanent problem.
🚨SECRETARY RUBIO: The Cuban people should know there’s $100 million of food and medicine available for them right now and the only reason it’s not reaching them is because of the Cuban regime.
REPORTER: Cuba’s Foreign Minister said that the State Department’s offer of $100 million in aid to Cuba is a lie.
SECRETARY RUBIO: The Cuban regime is lying. They lie all the time. How can you say it’s not a real offer? We’ve made it to them privately and now publicly.
SECRETARY RUBIO: What the President is making clear is that if the Iranians think that they are going to use our domestic politics to pressure him into a bad deal, that’s not going to happen.
