Apple $AAPL plans to enter the smart-home market on Oct. 13 with a new lineup centered around Siri AI, according to Bloomberg.
The main product is a roughly 6-inch smart-home display that can sit on a counter or mount on a wall.
It’s designed to recognize different household members by voice or face and automatically show personalized messages, calendars, contacts, notes and apps.
Apple sees the hub as a central controller for things like locks, thermostats, FaceTime, music, recipes and other connected devices.
Apple is also expected to unveil:
• A new HomePod mini with faster hardware for Siri AI
• A new Apple TV with upgraded processors
• A broader smart-home ecosystem around HomeKit and Siri
Further out, Apple is developing a privacy-focused home sensor and a higher-end 9-inch hub with a robotic arm that can rotate the display 360 degrees.
The smart-home push is one of the first major product expansions under new CEO John Ternus.
