Modders have found a pretty clever way to make DLSS 5 run much faster on ultrawide monitors. The trick is called foveated rendering. It keeps the part you’re looking at in high quality, while reducing the amount of work done on the edges of the screen, where you’re less likely to notice the difference. The results are pretty impressive: On an RTX 4090 running The Witcher 3 at an enormous 7680×2160 resolution around 49 FPS → over 80 FPS, roughly 63% more performance Another project, CheekyFoveatedDLSS, is experimenting with DLSS 5 and eye tracking, allowing the high-quality area to follow where you’re looking.
