About to do a battery health test on my 234,000 mile 2020 Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range. This is the second battery (replaced at 127k miles). Any guess on the health?!
I’m really impressed with the battery health results of my 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance. This car has been on some serious road trips over the last couple of years, 20+ hour days and lots of non-stop Supercharging sessions.

China has put rules in place regarding EV automaker battery degradation: • Minimum capacity requirements: – ≥82% after 5 years / 100,000 km – ≥75% after 8 years / 160,000 km – ≥70% after 10 years / 200,000 km • Automakers must display real battery health (SOCE) to owners, accurate within 5%. • Battery degradation must include virtual mileage (like using camp mode, V2L, etc.). Tesla has stated that their batteries are designed to retain 80% of their original capacity after 321,000 km (200,000 mi), so they’re exceeding China’s requirements.

Chinese State media showcased a @Tesla Model Y on TV when talking about their new national battery durability standard that just took effect. EVs in China now must follow these requirements: • A clear percentage showing remaining usable battery energy vs new • The displayed SOCE number must be accurate within 5% of the real measured value • Minimum battery health requirements for passenger EVs: • 82% after 5 years / 100,000 km • 75% after 8 years / 160,000 km • 70% after 10 years / 200,000 km • Includes “virtual mileage” accounting for non-driving battery use (V2L, camping power, etc.)
