Recent heavy rainfall in northern Chile has caused significant flooding, displacing hundreds from their homes. In response, @StateDept partner @ADRAIntl distributed hygiene and sanitation kits to 500 families impacted by flooding in the Coquimbo Region.

Areas of thunderstorms and heavy rain will bring the risk for localized urban/poor drainage flooding overnight into Monday. The greatest chance for flooding will be across urban areas where repetitive thunderstorm tracks increase the duration of heavy rainfall.

ALERT: Man with parkinsons screams at a woman for driving into his lawn during a storm that flooded the street. During tornadoes and heavy rainfall throughout Southwest Michigan, a woman drove her car onto the sidewalks and through lawns to avoid flooded streets. One homeowner, who doesn't want to be identified, says he believed his sprinkler system would have been damaged and ran out to stop the woman. "I have Parkinson’s disease," the homeowner said. "When I get upset, I start shaking, hard to concentrate and communicating with people. I get agitated easily, and it’s all part of the disease, and her driving down the sidewalk like that did not help the situation."

Rain continues to fall across southern New England today, with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall occurring. The risk for flash flooding remains under any heavy bands of rainfall and any areas that see continuous rainfall with little to no breaks through this evening.
