Severe thunderstorms are expected across portions of the Ohio Valley and Lower Great Lakes into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, this afternoon into the evening. Monsoonal thunderstorms may bring areas of flooding to the Southwest. Wildfire smoke continues to impact air quality from the Great Lakes region into New England and the Mid-Atlantic today with widespread Air Quality Alerts in effect. There will be potential for scattered flash flooding across the I-95 corridor from D.C. to Boston as rounds of storms are possible ahead of a cold front moving into the region. Urban areas with high runoff will be the most susceptible to flash flooding.

A Moderate Risk for Excessive Rainfall is out for south-central Arizona on Thursday, July 16. Numerous cases of flash floods are forecast with significant flooding possible. Be sure to have multiple ways of receiving weather warnings in advance of tomorrow's Moderate Risk.
