Jobs and AI take center stage this week 👀
The August jobs report will offer a crucial signal for the Fed’s September decision, while $AVGO earnings put custom AI chip demand back to the test.
$CRDO and SNOW also report, with $TSLA’s Cybercab event in focus.
📅 Here’s what to watch this week ↓
jobs in the singularity:
- guy that tells Claude to believe in themselves
- guy that spams ChatGPT with “keep going” after asking it to make a breakthrough
- guy who negs Kimi by telling it they’ve had enough of partial results
Jobs are bundles of tasks. AI and other technologies may eliminate or modify some of many of these tasks, but rarely all of them. Very interesting reporting from the @FT about how AI is changing rather than eliminating entry-level jobs.
Jobs data is what this week comes down to.
Samsung opens Monday with a 1,000+ trillion KRW investment plan — 300 trillion earmarked for a new chip fab. Direct read-through for HBM and advanced packaging names.
Warsh speaks at the ECB forum Tuesday, and every word gets parsed for clues on the second-half rate path.
Wednesday, US June NFP and unemployment drop together.
The question the market has been sitting on: can the labour market hold up at these rates?
Short week — HK closed Tuesday, US closed Friday. The trading window is tighter than it looks.
