These New Proposals Promise to Improve Polkadot's Network... @Polkadot recently announced OpenGov referenda #1909# and #1910#. These two new referenda propose staking updates to optimize network security while cutting costs through stronger validator incentives and lower nominator risks. Referendum #1909# builds on the 10,000 DOT validator self-stake minimum by adding self-stake rewards, setting validator commissions to 0%, and allowing permissionless chilling of under-bonded validators Referendum #1910# removes nominator slashing and reduces the unbonding period to 48 hours, rebalancing responsibilities to simplify participation as highlighted in the post's staking graphic In summary, both proposals seek to rebalance staking responsibilities between validators and nominators by increasing incentives for validator self-stake while simplifying participation for nominators
