🚨A San Francisco judge put a young black man on PROBATION in the Grandpa Vicha case, where he took the life of an elderly Thai man. Why? Because she claims prison would BE BAD FOR HIM!! ⠀ Antoine Watson was 19 on Jan. 28, 2021, when video showed him run full speed at 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee in Anza Vista and shove him from behind. The grandfather hit the pavement, went into a coma, and d*ed two days later. ⠀ In January 2026 a jury convicted Watson of involuntary mansl*ughter and as$ault. It acquitted him of m*rder and elder abuse. His mugshot was never released and he was never charged with a hate crime. Let that sink in. ⠀ Judge Linda Colfax sentenced him March 26 to eight years. She then suspended the rest and released him on probation because he had already done about five years in county jail plus good-time credit. ⠀ He is 25 now. He was ordered home to his mother’s house in Hayward, with weekly therapy and searches of him and his property. ⠀ He must stay away from the Ratanapakdee family and the block where Vicha d*ed. Colfax told him she would bring him back to court often. A violation can send him to state prison for the leftover term. ⠀ Daughter Monthanus Ratanapakdee said, "I didn't get justice for my father and justice for my family." District Attorney Brooke Jenkins called the sentence deeply disappointing. ⠀ Colfax said prison would have a “poor impact” on Watson, that he had shown remorse, and that the jury found he was not a danger. The family said she kept parts of his juvenile file from the jury and then used his completed juvenile probation to go light. ⠀ The 2021 shove helped drive the Stop Asian Hate wave. Watson is black. Vicha was an elderly Thai man walking in his own neighborhood.
