J.D. Vance called Chinese people “peasants.” China heard him and said: Fine. We’ll send the peasants’ rice to space. Shenzhou-23 will carry rice seeds to Tiangong to test two consecutive generations of rice grown in orbit — a step toward in-situ food production for lunar bases and deep-space missions. Imagine trying to insult a civilization with “farmers,” only to watch that civilization turn farming into space infrastructure. That’s the problem with American arrogance. They still think “peasant” means backward. China knows it means the people who feed civilization. And now, maybe one day, the Moon too.
