BRITISH SPRINTER CJ UJAH CHARGED IN UK CRYPTO SEED PHRASE SCAM
Former 2017 world 4x100m champion CJ Ujah is one of 10 people arrested and charged in a UK cryptocurrency fraud investigation, the Regional Organized Crime Unit Network said.
Officers from ERSOU's Regional Organized Crime Unit forced entry at multiple addresses across Kent, Essex, and London on April 29 in coordinated dawn raids.
ROCU said the group posed as police officers and cryptocurrency company representatives in phone calls to victims, tricking them into sharing seed phrases before draining their wallets. One victim is alleged to have lost more than £300,000 (~$410,000).
Ujah, 32, is due back in court at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 28. He was previously banned for 22 months after testing positive for two SARMs at Tokyo 2020, where Britain's 4x100m silver medal was stripped. He was cleared of intentional doping.
