Elon Musk (@elonmusk) said SpaceX ($SPCX) is only “2 to 3 years away” from potentially launching Starship on an hourly basis, outlining an extremely aggressive long-term cadence for the reusable rocket. The comments came as Musk reaffirmed that Starship Flight 14 is scheduled to launch Sept. 28 from Starbase, Texas, with a 75-minute launch window beginning at 7:15 a.m. CT. Flight 14 is expected to become Starship’s first orbital launch attempt and will carry the first batch of operational Starlink V3 satellites. The mission represents an important step in SpaceX’s transition toward using Starship for large-scale Starlink deployment. The company has already begun winding down Falcon 9 Starlink launches from Cape Canaveral while continuing Falcon 9 missions from Vandenberg. Musk has said the next-generation V3 constellation could dramatically expand Starlink’s capacity and has predicted that the network could eventually become a de facto global internet provider. Separately, Musk said launch turnaround time rather than fueling will become the key constraint as Starship operations scale. His longer-term target is even more ambitious. Musk has said SpaceX could eventually conduct more than 30 Starship launches per day by 2030, equivalent to roughly 10,000 launches annually. Flight 14 could also include another major technical milestone, with Musk previously suggesting SpaceX may attempt the first mid-air catch of the vehicle.
