You don’t even have to understand your own road.
Sometimes two people are walking through darkness at the same time…
and one simply holds the Light for the other for a while.
Maybe that’s why God allows some of us to walk through certain valleys.
Because once you’ve followed His Light through sickness, loss, heartbreak, financial hardship, fear, uncertainty, or loneliness, you recognize the darkness when you see someone else standing in it.
And you know something they may not know yet:
The darkness is not the end of the road.
So perhaps today you’re asking God,
“Where are You?”
Look again.
Don’t search only for the floodlight.
Look for the lamp.
Look for the small provision.
The unexpected kindness.
The unexplained peace.
The person who showed up.
The tiny opening where yesterday there seemed to be none.
And when you see even the smallest patch of illuminated ground…
step into it.
Don’t worry yet about step twenty.
Take step one.
Then step two.
And keep your eyes on the One holding the Light.
But maybe today you’re not the person searching for it.
Maybe today you noticed someone else standing in the darkness.
Someone who is sick.
Someone grieving.
Someone struggling financially.
Someone afraid.
Someone lonely.
Someone whose faith is hanging by a thread.
Don’t automatically assume somebody else will help them.
Perhaps you noticed because God intends to use you.
So make the call.
Send the message.
Show up.
Give what you can.
Pray.
Sit.
Listen.
Love.
Hold your Light a little higher.
Because somewhere today, someone is whispering through their tears,
“God… where are You?”
And perhaps, somewhere else, God is placing a flashlight into someone’s hand and whispering,
“Go. They need a little Light.”
We may never see the entire road.
We don’t need to.
We only need enough Light for the next step.
Follow it when you see it.
Carry it when you can.
And never forget where the Light comes from.
✝️ Keep walking. He’s just ahead of you.
A Prayer for Following the Light
Heavenly Father,
When I cannot see the road ahead, help me trust the Light You give me for the next step. When I wonder where You are, open my eyes to recognize Your presence in the people, provisions, peace, and quiet moments You place along my path.
And when I see someone else walking through darkness, help me carry Your Light to them. Let my words bring hope, my hands bring help, and my presence remind them that they are not walking alone.
Lord, I don’t need to see the whole road. I only need to keep my eyes on You.
Help me follow Your Light—and faithfully carry it for others.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. ❤️
