For the first time since 1914, there have been no North Atlantic hurricane formations by September 21st.
Fay did not attain hurricane strength overnight, and has since weakened, with maximum sustained wind speeds dropping from 70 to 50 mph. Weakening is expected to continue over the next couple of days. No other storm formations are expected for at least the next seven days (but that can change).
The only other two times that this has happened since 1851 were in 1905 (October 8th) and 1907, respectively, and like 1914, the 1907 season featured no Atlantic hurricanes that we know of (pre-satellite era data is to be taken with a grain of salt).

No hurricanes have formed in the North Atlantic Ocean so far this year.
This is the FIRST time on record in the satellite era (since 1966) that we have made it to September 12th without at least one Atlantic hurricane yet in the calendar year.
This is also the first time since at least 1941 that this has happened. Year-to-date ACE is lowest since 1941 as well. If we get through September 21st without any hurricane formations, it will be the first time since 1914 (there were none that season).
Can we get there? Nine days to go. The NHC thinks we will notch at least seven more. The race is on.

On today's date in 1934, Keokuk, Iowa reached 118°F (47.8°C), setting a new state record high temperature that remains in the books today. Nearly 20% of the U.S. was at or above 100°F (37.8°C) that day. If that occurred today, climastrologists would be 100% certain that it was the fault of your Ram 2500.

We live on a planet in a universe where the only thing constant is change.
Contrary to what you believe, things aren't supposed to stay static over time.
When climate changes, that does not mean that we are responsible. And even if we are, that does not mean that it's a crisis.

By next week, the Western European heatwave will be over, and cool air will sweep in from the north. The eco panicans shall simmer down as the atmosphere runs out of climate juice.
