I quit my job at Rolls-Royce to go all in on YouTube. Here's how that happened. I had a good job there, on the manufacturing site. It was the highest pay grade you can get without going into management. And they kept offering me the promotion. I kept turning it down, because I had my eye on getting out. So alongside that job I was trying everything. A dropshipping store. Selling stickers at one point. I was a budding electronic DJ, and I ended up DJing in seven countries and supporting festivals. Then I started renting out nightclubs and putting on my own events. And every single time I did the exact same thing. I'd give something a real go for a few weeks or a few months, maybe a couple of years. And then the moment it got hard, I'd move on to the next one. That's the biggest mistake I've made in my career. The nightclub promotions is what pointed me at social media. I had a thousand-person venue to fill and no idea how. So I ended up doing social media to get people through the door. And the first time I posted something and an actual human being walked into that club because of it, that changed how I saw social media forever. Then covid arrived. The events stopped, I was burnt out on the DJ side anyway, and I was working from home for Rolls-Royce by then. So I was spinning two plates, and I could finally give this proper time. And that's the thing about YouTube that makes it work around a job. It doesn't need you at 9am on a Monday. Nobody's waiting on you at 3pm on a Tuesday. You put the hours in whenever you've got them. And it keeps building in the background while you get better at it. It took me six or seven years to get out of that job. Warren Buffett has a line I think about a lot. It's not about how hard you row, it's about which river you're in. Now I'm of completely average intelligence. What I did was pick something that was growing, and then refuse to switch off it. And that's since become 100 million plus views across the channels we've worked on, clients hitting $100K months, and a business I'm proud of. I've put all of my YouTube knowledge into an 8-week course, which I'll keep adding to. If you're interested: * Follow me (important so that we can DM you) * Comment "YouTube" below.
