To all the BIP110 folks, it’s ok that you were wrong. Stick around Bitcoin long enough and you’ll be humbled again and again (I think I have a PhD in being humbled at this point). All that matters is that you learn, redirect your energy, and push Bitcoin forward constructively.🤝

BIP110 fanatics are angry I’m spending time mogging their malicious fork. We’re one of the largest corporate holders of bitcoin in the world and we own the largest bitcoin media company in the world. We’re a meaningful economic node and we’re going to defend our asset. We don’t consent to you changing Bitcoin. After 14 years in Bitcoin this is not the first or second or third time we’ve had to squash malicious take over attempts… This is the true origin of toxic maximalism. The mogging will continue until you fork off and find out.

For those who can’t believe it, here is his public apology. I forgot how egregious the details were and how hypocritical his current stance is…
BIP110 is an embarrassment. The most incoherent, unpopular, intellectually and morally bankrupt soft fork proposal in Bitcoin history.
900 votes and nearly half think one node one vote 🤮 The whole point of proof of work is Sybil-proof consensus. If it was one node one vote you could just deploy 100,000 cloud hosted nodes (very cheaply I may add) and declare overwhelming consensus. It’s sad this even needs to be said but Bitcoin is not a democracy.

I don’t think people understand the stakes of what the BIP-110 attackers just attempted. It’s not a software update, it’s a forced takeover. If a contentious 51% attack successfully seized control of Bitcoin’s protocol development and crowned one developer king it would be the single biggest crisis in Bitcoin history and millions of bitcoins would be sold by longtime holders. This would cause a real price crash, not a little bear market. Hundreds of millions of innocent/unaware users would be financially devastated. All the credibility Bitcoin had built in the world would be wiped out. Attacks on consensus are playing with a nuclear bomb. Fortunately bitcoin works like we thought it did and this attack never stood a chance. Future attacker take note, consensus does not bend to your will.
