🇵🇸 A four-month-old Palestinian infant died Sunday evening after Israeli soldiers blocked his urgent medical transfer at the military checkpoint sealing his village of Deir Ammar, west of Ramallah, according to Ramallah Governor Laila Ghannam.
Ahmad Ma’rouf Zeid was in critical condition and needed immediate hospital treatment but soldiers refused to let him through, Ghannam said. They fired tear gas at the residents and vehicles gathered at the gate as he waited.
Doctors at the Arab Specialized Hospital confirmed the death of the family’s only son, born after several years of waiting, the Wafa News agency reported.
Ghannam called his death “a stain on the conscience of humanity” and part of a deliberate Israeli policy of checkpoints, gates, and closures that strangles the movement of patients and ambulances across the occupied West Bank.
