He was walking home after watching the NBA Finals with friends when he was shot during an apparent robbery in Philadelphia. ▪️ Henry Nowak, 18: A first-year university student in England. He was stabbed to death after a night out with his football teammates. In his final moments, he was handcuffed after his killer falsely accused him of being the aggressor. ▪️ Austin Metcalf, 17: A 4.0 student, football MVP and high-school athlete with dreams of playing college football. He was fatally stabbed during a confrontation at a Texas track meet. ▪️ Iryna Zarutska, 23: A young Ukrainian refugee who escaped war and was building a new life in America. She was attacked and fatally stabbed while riding a train home from work in Charlotte. Billy. Henry. Austin. Iryna. They weren’t statistics. They were sons, brothers, classmates, teammates, coworkers and friends. They had plans. They had futures. They had people waiting for them to come home. 4 completely different places. 4 different circumstances. AND 4 young people whose lives ended violently while doing ordinary things young people do.
