Why should we care about excellence and discovery detached from human effort and striving?
We don't have to let ourselves be made obsolete. We need to really against this cold, hateful worldview and stop AI in its tracks.

The tenure process has similar effects.
The classical theorists of capitalism did not believe growth was to be pursued at all costs. Indeed they were only willing to support capitalism insofar as it facilitated morally good lives alongside generating wealth.
