⚡️ Space Tech Brief ⚡️ India’s private space industry is accelerating, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting founders and CEOs from 20 homegrown space startups as the country pushes to become a global space technology hub. India now has roughly 440 registered space startups, compared with just one in 2014. Companies including Skyroot Aerospace, Agnikul Cosmos, Pixxel, and Dhruva Space are building across launch vehicles, satellites, propulsion systems, space debris management, and other space infrastructure. The meeting highlighted how India’s space sector has expanded beyond its traditionally government-led model. Policy reforms have opened more of the industry to private companies and investment, creating opportunities for startups to participate across the space technology stack. The bigger shift is the emergence of a broader private space ecosystem alongside ISRO. As launch, satellite, and downstream space technologies become increasingly commercialized, India is positioning its growing startup base to compete in the global space economy.
