California’s first Teen Tech Council is here! I was proud to launch and convene this council with @livinlikeLARZ and Half The Story to give young people a seat at the table as we shape the future of technology. Our youth are growing up in a digital world they didn’t choose, but they should have a say in what it becomes.

Governor Newsom just signed an executive order directing California to build a statewide roadmap to prevent sex trafficking, identify exploitation earlier, and better support survivors. I’ve worked on this issue for years alongside leaders across California, and I’m proud we brought agencies, law enforcement, and survivor-centered organizations together to strengthen prevention and coordination.

I’m so proud that California’s nation-leading Farm to School Program has now been signed into state law, with funding extended to continue this work! Since 2019, California Farm to School has reached nearly 3 million students, expanding access to fresh, locally sourced, organic, and increasingly regenerative meals while supporting farmers and strengthening communities across the state.

I met with @girlscouts of California to receive their inaugural State of the Girl Report and hear directly about what girls across our state are experiencing. Nearly 40% of girls ages 11–18 experienced serious psychological distress in 2024, while less than 2% of charitable giving in California supports girls. The report shows where greater investment from all sectors can strengthen girls’ well-being and expand their opportunities!
