Most of my 12yo students play "Mozart-level piano", draw comics or would whoop 99% of adults in table tennis. The parents pick a hobby for the kids early. They force the kids to stick to it. The kids become good at it and enjoy being good at something. There's nothing mystical about American adults who went through the HYPSM pipeline to also be good at a hobby lol.

the talent density at @OpenAI isn’t just limited to research or applied expertise I’ve been watching people casually play Mozart level piano in our building and drop mid conversation that they played college tennis or water polo or make art full time in addition to work Talented, driven people tend to be talented and driven in more than just the intelligence that maps cleanly to their job Working alongside folks like this is genuinely the biggest privilege and joy!
