AI in the hands of the incompetent, managerial, non-technical or AI-sychotic is a tool for endless busywork. It makes you feel good, you feel like you got superpowers, you feel like you are in charge of something, exercising control over a sycophnatic employee that never ceases to heed your call. You stop considering whether a work is worth doing because its cost is suddenly marginal in both money and time. You greedily overindulge yourself in tasks that would be considered superfluous. You exercise the stolen valor of producing long outputs you haven't read, and won't read, and your audience/coworkers won't read, and you wear them with pride as if they were the fruit of your labor, and you expect others to produce similar outputs which you will not read either because you will just dump it into AI. You wakeup in sweat about the endless unbounded world of possibilities for pointless busywork, never stopping, because in your mind, an LLM is the panacea to all the world's problem, and the secret weapon your peers among your competition must be using to outperform you. You obsess over opportunity cost: "If we can do it with AI, we must! Who cares if it's low quality? If we don't try all of these things, our competition will use AI to try all of these things, and they will beat us." Focus is not a priority anymore because the short term cost of being unfocused (some say exploratory) is orders of magnitude smaller than it was before. Time slowly ticks by, and there is a simple truth innocuously growing in your heart: That you are selling your soul, that your senses dull beyond the prompting window, that you talk to employees as if they were AI agents and you expect them to behave as such, and that you, not the LLM, are the obedient slave -- a slave to the machine your greed let take over your life. You are a Fortune 500 business executive. You can't think about it, there is more prompting, more busywork to do.
