Brownsville residents know what their neighborhoods need to be safer and stronger. During our campaign, I spoke to young men in Brownsville who talked about the challenges of growing up in a neighborhood where ambition exceeds opportunity — and how deeply they wanted to make the place they call home safer. Thanks to NeighborhoodSTAT (NSTAT), Brownsville residents have the power and resources to do just that. Led by our Office of Community Safety, NSTAT brings New Yorkers and their government together to develop and fund community-led solutions to the problems they face daily. It was a joy to come back to Brownsville yesterday and learn about the solutions New Yorkers are championing — solutions that will soon become reality.
