This is a chance for the Govt to show some competency.
They need to take it.
Today I'm delighted to announce my first ever Private Members' Bill has been settled by the Oireachtas: the Criminal Records, Recording of Nationality and Immigration Status, Bill 2026.
This Bill will require An Garda Síochána to compile statistical data on the nationality and immigration status of convicted persons, published annually to the Oireachtas and the public.
Transparency and accountability. That's what this is about. No more guesswork, no more spin. Just the facts, published for everyone to see.
This is only the start.
