Two years ago the Irish people were asked to remove mothers and a woman's life in the home from the Constitution. They said no, decisively. Now the same instinct is back in a taxpayer-funded campaign. The Government's new Strategy for Women and Girls describes those who promote a home-centred family life as promoting "restrictive, stereotypical roles for women and girls." There is nothing wrong with choosing to raise your children at home. It is one of the finest things a person can do. Many women have told me they feel looked down on by this Government for that very choice. A mother's choice is not a "harmful stereotype." I've tabled parliamentary questions asking who decides, and whether raising your own children at home now falls within the scope of this campaign.

The High Court suspended Dr Grah’s registration on 17 July and prohibited her from practising medicine. The Council has said it is gravely concerned she may be continuing to practise despite that order. Its advice to the public is unambiguous: do not attend Dr Grah, and do not request appointments or prescriptions from her. If you or a family member are a patient there, contact your pharmacy or the HSE for guidance on continuity of care and any repeat prescriptions. Patient safety must come first. The resignation of Cambridge's Jason Arday, as the university investigates his qualifications and honorary appointments, is a British story. But there is a lesson in it for us at home. He denies wrongdoing, and the inquiry will run its course. Still, the case should prompt every Irish university, State body and public institution to ask a plain question: how rigorously do we verify the credentials, titles and claims of the people we appoint, fund and celebrate? Standards in public life cannot be selective. They either apply to everyone, or they mean nothing.

€720m HSE agency budget. And: No hourly rates disclosed. No value-for-money framework for insourcing or agency clinics. No record of the vacancies the restrictions create. No assessment of the impact on patients. Cutting cost is not the same as delivering care.

I asked the Government to assess the economic and workforce cost of long-term Lyme disease. Inability to work. Disability. The lives affected. The reply, in the State's own words: no assessment has been done, and the national response is awareness posters and leaflets. People living with long-term Lyme deserve to be counted and supported, not handed a leaflet. I will keep pushing.

67 dead. 60,000 crossing a border in hours. A European city of 84,000 completely overwhelmed. And the Irish Government's answer is to congratulate Spain on a job well done? An absolute joke. While other countries demanded action, Ireland handed out praise. Border security and human life both deserve better than this.

The Dept of Housing has spent 9 years funding housing research with the ESRI. In 9 years it has never once studied whether housing is driving young Irish people to emigrate. Then in the same reply, it waves the link away. You cannot plead ignorance and claim certainty in the same breath.

€32,000. That is what the Taoiseach told the Dáil the National Maternity Hospital bike shed would cost. The actual bill came in at €85,905. Nearly three times the figure put on the public record last September. That works out at over €1,400 for every bike space, paid for with public grant money. This is the same pattern we keep seeing on major health capital projects: costs that balloon, figures that do not hold up, and no straight answer when the public asks how their money was spent. Taxpayers are entitled to accurate information from the floor of the Dáil and full value for every euro. They deserve to know how €32,000 became €85,905.

22 EU member states set out serious concerns in writing on Saturday, including on returns. Ireland chairs Tuesday's Justice and Home Affairs Council. We have offered solidarity with Spain. We have not said whether we agree with what those 22 states actually wrote. I have written to Minister O'Callaghan.

Solidarity with Spain is the easy half, Minister. The harder half is whether Ireland agrees with the substance 22 member states put in writing, including on returns. You chair the Council on Tuesday. Ireland's position should be known before you sit down, not after.

Ireland's Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan has refused to change a law that prevents the media from identifying someone as an asylum seeker, even if that person has been charged with or convicted of a serious crime. O'Callaghan defended Section 26 of the International Protection Act, saying he and his department are "legally obliged" to keep the identities of asylum applicants confidential because revealing their status could endanger relatives or friends in their country of origin. Under Irish law, journalists cannot publish information that would identify someone as an asylum applicant without that person's consent.

€125 million for Ukraine was found and announced in a single day. Around 200 others with Friedreich's Ataxia have waited over 700 days for a decision on a drug that already exists and is funded across Europe. One day for one cause. Two years for them.

In today's Irish Daily Mail. The State signed 4,700 deportation orders last year. It carried out 185. That is not enforcement. That is theatre, and it is being funded by the taxpayer. Worse again, the Department of Justice cannot tell us where the rest of them are. I asked directly how many people under deportation orders have gone missing. The Department produced no number at all. So the official position of the Irish State is that it hopes they went home. The same paper reports more than 16,000 people arrived at Dublin Airport without passports since 2020. The public has been asked to accept a lot on immigration.
