Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman said Wednesday he would leave the Democratic Party if it became the “anti-Israel party.”
Israel became a dividing issue for Democrats, as 103 House Democrats voted for Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie’s amendment to slash $3.3 billion in U.S. aid to Israel. Fetterman said at The Hill Nation Summit that the party turning against Israel is the “one condition” that would get him to leave his party.

“It can’t be implemented. There are ten thousand different entities that have to get it done. There was zero dollars in the initial appropriation. Now they're talking about maybe ten million dollars in a reconciliation package. Have you done the work? Is it is it a grant? Can you get the numbers right? Are you laying the predicate for trying to overrule the decision of the chair?”

Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan testified in front of a House Appropriations subcommittee Tuesday about the high court’s request to raise its funding from $44 million to a total of $207 million in fiscal year 2027.
The justices cited data from the U.S. Marshals Service on a rise in threats to judges across the U.S., including those on the Supreme Court. They discussed their own experiences with threats and their need to increase security personnel.
