I understand the lady actually. If you notice, Tony stated that he wasn't a believer in First Name Basis tradition of the whites, as a means of correction.
Now let's turn this into a teachable moment. If you meet someone and you don't know how to address them, this is what to do:
1. Put a Prefix before their name e.g. Mr. Tony, Mr. Elumelu or Mr. Tony Elumelu
2. Refer to them by their official gender class. If it's a man, call him a Sir, if it's a woman, Call her Ma or Ms. or Ma'am or Madam.
