The internet has created a global status market. You can see how people live everywhere, and compare yourself to people far outside your country or profession. That weakens the old national and occupational identities

There’s a reason original Coca-Cola became the world’s biggest soft drink. it tastes good. Coke Zero and Diet Coke make it easy to drink soda every day while telling yourself it isn't bad for you. it tastes worse and it is still bad for you.
I’d rather drink the real thing but less often. When you do, you get to understand why original coca-cola took over the world.
