31話 不思議な光
ぺんぎんちゃんは、南極でお母さんと暮らす、ちいさくて元気な不思議な子。
少し前、ぺんぎんちゃんは体調を崩し、怖い夢を見るようになった。
夢の中では、「たすけて」という声や、知らない光、遠い星のような景色がぼんやりと浮かんでくる。
病気から回復したぺんぎんちゃんは、学校にも戻り、いつものように元気いっぱい。
給食で大げさに落ち込んだり、星のシールに妙に惹かれたり、知らない歌を口ずさんだりしながら、少しずつ不思議な変化を見せ始める。
さかなちゃんは、そんなぺんぎんちゃんの様子を「最近あやしい」と感じ、探偵のように観察し始める。
夢の絵、暗いプリンの国、知らない歌。
いつものおとぼけに見える出来事の中に、少しずつ変なものが混ざり始めていた。
一方、お母さんは押し入れの古い箱を見つめ、ぺんぎんちゃんの夢や「たすけての声」と、箱の中に眠る何かが関係しているのではないかと不安を強めていく。
夜、星空を見上げたぺんぎんちゃんは言う。
「夢の声、星の向こうから聞こえた気がする」
お母さんはごまかすように家へ戻ろうとするが、胸の奥では大きな秘密が動き始めていることに気づいている。
お父さんも電話越しに、ぺんぎんちゃんの夢と体調を心配し、「箱の反応を見ておいた方がいい」とお母さんに伝える。
けれどぺんぎんちゃん本人は、まだ何も知らないまま、宿題を見て苦しくなったり、プリンに深い事情を感じたり、いつもの調子で毎日を過ごしている。
そして最近、ぺんぎんちゃんのまわりには、小さな光が現れ始める
