The report, titled "Wolves in White Coats," reveals more than $50 million in insurance claims for puberty blockers billed for patients ages 13-17 from 2015 to 2025. HHS says providers intentionally pushed gender dysphoria diagnoses on children to make puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries easier to bill — a pathway paved by Biden-era policies promoting transgender equality. The average healthcare cost for a minor is roughly $3,000. If a child transitions, that figure jumps to $75,000 without surgery — and nearly $170,000 with gender-altering procedures. Roughly 225 hospitals nationwide have established pediatric gender programs. Vance's letter to AG Todd Blanche is blunt: providers who intentionally miscoded treatment to defraud Medicaid or private insurers "should go to prison."
