Today in Tampa, I was proud to announce that Florida is the first state in the nation to amend our Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) State Plan to prohibit benefits from being used to purchase inappropriate, luxury and non-essential items.   TANF provides taxpayer-funded Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) through an EBT card, which cannot be used to purchase alcohol, gamble, or spend money at adult entertainment establishments.   I have directed @MyFLFamilies to amend Florida’s TANF State Plan so that these benefits cannot also be used for tobacco, vaping products, adult content, video games, theme park tickets, tattoos, spa services, tanning, or psychic readings. Taxpayer-funded assistance should help families put food on the table, keep the lights on, purchase clothing, provide for their children and overcome barriers on the path toward independence.

FIRST ON FOX: Vice President JD Vance is referring a bombshell HHS report to the Justice Department that alleges hospitals deliberately pushed gender-affirming procedures on minors to cash in on fraudulent insurance claims — and he's calling for criminal prosecution. The report, titled "Wolves in White Coats," reveals more than $50 million in insurance claims for puberty blockers billed for patients ages 13-17 from 2015 to 2025. HHS says providers intentionally pushed gender dysphoria diagnoses on children to make puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries easier to bill — a pathway paved by Biden-era policies promoting transgender equality. The average healthcare cost for a minor is roughly $3,000. If a child transitions, that figure jumps to $75,000 without surgery — and nearly $170,000 with gender-altering procedures. Roughly 225 hospitals nationwide have established pediatric gender programs. Vance's letter to AG Todd Blanche is blunt: providers who intentionally miscoded treatment to defraud Medicaid or private insurers "should go to prison."
