These families - often including American citizens - live with the uncertainty of what is happening to loved ones in China. Law abiding citizens can be thrown in jail just for believing in a higher power than the Chinese Communist Party.

It's great to get pandas but let's hold out for China to release innocent people who are imprisoned because they're either people of faith or support freedom. I'll take Jimmy Lai, Gulshan Abbas, Pastor Wang Yi, the disappeared Catholic Bishops and countless others over pandas.

China is brutally persecuting faith groups. At this week's summit, President Trump must hold Xi accountable. "It's showing the brittleness of the Chinese Communist Party," @SamuelBrownback told FRC President @tperkins. "It's time for us to go right at them on these issues..."

China is not a trustworthy or reliable partner on trade or any other issues. Not as long as it persecutes its own citizens because of their faith. I thank @POTUS for raising religious prisoners with President Xi in the past and pray he will do so again.

The Ambassador's red lines actually provide excellent guidance on the topics @POTUS SHOULD raise in his summit with Xi Jinping. This shows the world what the CCP is really all about and what they want to hide. China's rulers are scared of the truth.

The treatment of Christians and members of other faiths in China is heartbreaking. These innocent people are tortured physically and psychologically in prison. The only thing they are guilty of is believing in a higher power than the Communist Party.

This senseless violence is far too common in Burma. The ruling military junta is murdering its own people and must be held accountable for its crimes. Christian Chins should not fear for their lives.

The continued detainment of an American citizen and former diplomat by a democratic ally for something he said defies belief. This shouldn't be happening. South Korea should allow Morse Tan to return home now.

The senseless killing continues in Burma. The military junta, allied with China, continues to fight ethnic groups including Chin Christians. The regime is illegitimate and must be held accountable for its war crimes against its own people.

South Korea’s backsliding on religious freedom should be concerning to everyone. The miscarriage of justice in the case of Dr. Hak Ja Han alarmingly shows that its judicial system is failing to live up to democratic standards Dr. Han, the 83-year old leader of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, has been convicted in a case where the allegations against her came from a disgruntled and disgraced former church officer who had already been expelled from the Family Federation. She has serious health issues and no criminal history but is being treated like a hardened criminal. Perhaps most alarming in all of this are the reports that the Chinese Communist Party, no friend to religious freedom or other democratic values, is partially behind this and other persecutions by supporting the groups advocating for the prosecutions. Dr. Han’s family and the church are well known for their anti-communist crusades and South Korea should protect against CCP influences in its legal system. It is a travesty of justice that Dr. Han has been convicted. I hope the courts will consider her health and allow her to stay out of prison while her appeal is being considered.
