I think I found an interesting design change or style that will make the new Optimus factory at Gigafactory Texas visually look different from the main factory โ€ฆ the beveled angles on the ends of the buildings are different. The main Gigafactory Texas factory has sharply angles beveled edges, but the Optimus Factory perimeter grade beam at the corners are curved. Here is a comparison between similar points in the construction of both. This should be interesting if the final factory does indeed carry through these rounded corners. What do you think?

Seems absurd the scale involved, but it's not! ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ˜ต @Tesla and @SpaceX Terafab, to be built ~130 miles (~210 Km) east of Giga Texas near College Station in Grimes County. Initial phase: $16.8 billion from Tesla and SpaceX combined. Multi-phase could be ~$119 billion once completed. Planned footprint: More than 100 million square feet & would be one of the largest factories in the world if not the largest. It will be roughly 10ร— the size of Giga Texas!

It looks like Ship 43.1 is using tonightโ€™s closure from Production to Masseyโ€™s for testing. A reaction frame to pull down on the lower Pez dispenser hardware could be simulating the loads that the new, heavier V3 satellites place on the forward dome mounting points. Chopstick simulators were added to the can-crusher test cell, so SpaceX can gather data on the landing interaction between the bumpers, landing rail, and ship. Iโ€™m unsure what tests will be performed on the very top of the nose cone with the offset steel added in the factory. Thanks to @LabPadre Rover 1

Today marks the late astronaut Neil Armstrongโ€™s 96th birthday (the namesake of NASA Glennโ€™s Neil Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio)! ๐ŸŽ‚ He was the first person to step foot on the Moonโ€™s surface, saying the famous quote, โ€œThatโ€™s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.โ€ As NASA looks ahead to Artemis III and beyond, we remember Neil Armstrong as a trailblazer of space exploration. Fun fact: Armstrong was born on Aug. 5, 1930, in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He began his professional career at the Lewis Flight Propulsion Lab (now NASA Glenn) as a research pilot. NEURALINK received U.S. Patent No. 12,690,877 B2 on July 28th for automatic craniotomy and bonework via milling, force sensing, and impedance sensing. The system uses a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machine with a high-speed spindle (typically 60,000+ rpm) and an end mill. A bio-impedance circuit sends current through the end mill to a return contact on the patient. Impedance drops as the tool advances through denser bone layers into softer dura. An axial force sensor (shear beam load cell) simultaneously measures resistance. A drop to 80โ€“90% of the maximum force recorded during the cut signals breakthrough of the inner cortical table. The controller compares live sensor data against stored values (from prior scans, historical data, or real-time maxima) and stops or retracts the end mill when either signal indicates the desired depth. Pre-operative CT scans and an optical assembly assist positioning and depth planning. Inventors are John M. Harris, Dalton James Colen, Graydon J. Wilson, and Jamie N. Delton. TESLA: U.S. District Judge Christopher R. Wolfe of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Waco Division granted Tesla a Temporary Restraining Order and Writ of Replevin in its dispute with Angstrom Automotive (Case No. 6:26-cv-00477). The order authorizes Tesla to enter the supplierโ€™s facility in Troy, Texas, and retrieve its own Cybertruck tooling and related equipment that Angstrom had been withholding. Tesla had sued after Angstrom announced plans to close the plant and refused to release the tooling unless Tesla paid an additional $250,000 per week. Tesla argued the equipment belonged to it and that continued withholding risked disrupting Cybertruck production. Angstromโ€™s Texas affiliate later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Every Prufrock that leaves the factory has over 1,000 changes from the one before it. Before it ships, we put it through a full Porpoise Test (PT) in Bastrop โ€” a short test tunnel (typically under 200 rings) that lets both the design team and the test team gather real data on the new designs and on the specific Prufrock serial number. To date, weโ€™ve completed six of these tests and Prufrock 5 is currently 200 rings into PT7. Once complete, the tunnels are put to use: โ€ข PT4 is now a vacuum tunnel for Hyperloop testing โ€ข PT5 is a live test bench for liner trucks and new belt systems โ€ข PT6 is a pedestrian tunnel connecting SpaceX to Hyperloop Plaza With porpoise testing, our engineers get to get hands on and stress-test every one of their designs in real world environments without ever leaving Bastrop. 5 August 2026 Giga Texas VIDEO โ€ฆ Busy morning with production of @Cybertrucks apparently ramping back up, few Cybercabs. Lots of Model Yโ€™s, Cybercabs on the Test Track & transporting employees autonomously โ€ฆ and a Cybercab graveyard ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Cortex 2 is getting many new Megapacks installed today along the W & E sides, eventually bringing the total just for this AI Data Center to around 260 once fully installed. The Joint @SpaceX & @Tesla Advanced Tech Chip Fab foundation work continues & some of the old temp workshops are being disassembled to clear more space. The entire E side has a new permit calling it the โ€œEast Support Facilityโ€ officially!

On January 15, 2025, Falcon 9 successfully deployed Firefly Aerospaceโ€™s Blue Ghost Mission 1 and ispaceโ€™s RESILIENCE lunar landers on a trajectory to the Moon from pad 39A in Florida. For most of our missions, we plan a controlled deorbit of the Falcon second stage so it safely reenters over the ocean. For higher energy missions like those to a lunar transfer orbit, nearly all performance on the vehicle is devoted to successfully placing the payload in the intended orbit, and a controlled disposal maneuver is not always possible. We actively work to be as responsible as possible with hardware left in space to ensure space safety, including for more complex missions. In this case, over time, solar activity and gravity led the second stage toward the Moon. Impacts like this are rare, but they can happen with objects in these types of orbits, and we worked with NASA on the optimal disposal solution. Our focus remains on advancing reliable access to space while working toward even more sustainable operations with Starship in the future. As a fully reusable vehicle, Starship is designed to eliminate expendable upper stages entirely, reducing hardware left in orbit and enabling even more missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
