The eternal debate on prediction market resolutions comes down to whether event contracts should be resolved based on the āspirit of the market,ā or based on textualism (the most literal definition of the rules).
If Iām being completely honest, I donāt have a particular preference as both sides carry merit.
What I think matters more is that once a market is created, the rules need to be immutable.
Additional context and clarifications are strictly damaging.
Why?
Because they create inconsistencies in precedence.
Polymarket sometimes issues clarifications in the āspirit of a market,ā and other times lets markets resolve off flawed but literal interpretations of the rules.
That approach just leaves all sides unhappy.
