Unlike any other highly valued software product, LLMs have zero switching cost in my experience.
In fact, I often see a benefit in switching. The new model sees things the other didn’t. I do this every day, all day.
Imagine if you wanted to run multiple, I don’t know, CRMs. Hey, Hubspot says this, let me check Salesforce.
Not switching LLMs has a cost.
This has to exert enormous downward pricing pressure on token cost.
Let’s call it: LLMs have switching incentive, or negative friction.
