I don't like to generalize, but much of the Canadian news media has been completely asleep at the switch about Beijing's cloak-and-dagger work in Canada, and recent attention hasn't been helped by the habit of seeing everything through a “race” lens.

This is true, by the way. The worry is that the intelligence goes north, it goes up the chain, then it goes down the street to that massive embassy on Patrick Street with the red flag on top.
It started with the Chinese ambassador, Lu Shaye, who said Canadian concern about the Mikes' abduction was "white supremacy." Next thing you know, chin-stroking pseuds on teevee chat panels.

Exactly. And platformed on the CBC. Letter written by a guy who blames US imperialists for Russian atrocities in Ukraine.
You "don't care"? Not fair? He admits to meeting with the consul. PMO says they were never told, Dong says he never told PMO. Dong denies content of conversation. Not fair: Saying CSIS & journalists are racists, Conservatives or working with Beijing.
What to do? A public inquiry.
