The Kalshi drama is a good window into human nature. Specifically, as it relates to the vice of pride. Not just pride at the surface level definition, but all the underlying emotions that makeup what we commonly refer to as “pride.” The drive not just for money, but to have more money than your neighbors. The need not only to be successful, but more successful than college friends. The drive to not only be good looking, but better looking than that other guy. Pride is what causes people to knowingly (or in some cases unknowingly) use others for their own gain, and to dispose of them as soon as they don’t see any future gains to be derived from them. I have no idea who is right or wrong in this volume debate. I am not smart enough to figure that out. But I do know that many of the comments on that original post from Beni are filled with people taking delight in the takedown. Here is where the pride comes in. For over a year I have seen MANY if not MOST of these same people kissing the Kalshi teams’ ass and clout chasing them on the timeline. But they were mostly doing that because they thought they could gain something from doing it. Quietly, they envied the individuals. They hated their perceived success. They never liked or even cared about them; they were simply trying to gain something from them. Many such cases. Anyways, I don’t really care what the outcome is. Have a great day.
