THE ONLY PHOTO EVER TAKEN OF CONCORDE AT MACH 2
This remarkable image shows Concorde G-BOAG cruising at Mach 2 (1,350 mph) over the Irish Sea in April 1985.
Captured from an RAF Panavia Tornado fighter jet, the rendezvous lasted just four minutes as the Tornado, rapidly running low on fuel, struggled to keep pace with the supersonic airliner.
At Mach 2, Concorde's 204-ft airframe stretched by nearly six inches due to aerodynamic heating. Temperatures reached approximately 127°C (261°F) at the nose and wing leading edges, while its distinctive high-reflectivity white paint helped dissipate the intense heat generated by supersonic flight.

This is how the C-17 Globemaster III can descend from 30,000 feet to 5,000 feet in less than two minutes.
This tactical descent profile allows the aircraft to remain at higher altitudes for as long as possible before making a rapid, steep descent into its destination. By doing so, the C-17 minimizes the time it spends within enemy air defense and missile engagement ranges, enhancing survivability in hostile environments.

An experimental MTO-Sport gyrocopter crashed near Reid-Hillview Airport, San Jose on June 29, 2026, injuring two people. One occupant was transported to the hospital, while the other sustained minor injuries.
The FAA identified the aircraft as an experimental MTO-Sport gyrocopter. It's unclear whether the aircraft was taking off or landing at the time of the accident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Successful fan blade-off (FBO) test of the RR Trent 900 engine.
The test is conducted to meet the requirements for turbine engine blade containment. The regulations require an engine to demonstrate that it can safely contain a released fan blade without causing an uncontrolled fire, shedding hazardous debris, or compromising its engine mounting attachments.

Regarding UPS Flight 2976, an NTSB investigative hearing revealed a troubling pattern. Records showed that at least 10 in-service spherical bearing failures were discovered during maintenance inspections over a 20-year period before the MD-11 accident. Seven of those failures were reported to Boeing, while four were reported to the FAA. Despite the recurring issue, Boeing maintained that bearing race fractures were not considered a safety-of-flight concern, raising questions about whether earlier intervention could have prevented the accident.

COMING SOON: SUPERSONIC FLIGHTS ARE BACK.
The FAA has proposed a new rule that would allow civil supersonic flights over the continental United States. By utilizing "boomless cruise" technology, next-generation aircraft could travel at speeds above Mach 1 without disruptive sonic booms reaching the ground.
“Advances in aerospace engineering, materials science, noise reduction, and new operational concepts will eliminate the old sonic boom,” said FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford.
The FAA aims to finalize the new regulations by mid-2027.

This was not widely reported and occurred six days ago (June 24). The video shows a FlyCAA Airbus A321-200F (9S-AJM) operating flight BU282 from Kisangani landing on Runway 18 at Kindu Airport in the DR Congo.
On finals, the aircraft appears to be coming in fast and making an "unstable approach." The aircraft remains grounded at Kindu Airport.
