.@USTradeRep Ambassador Greer: "For over 100 years, the United States has had a law on the books prohibiting the import of goods made with forced labor. This is common sense, and we've enforced this law... We have told countries, you need to take action... If countries are on the right path, they have a certain level of tariff—about 10%—and if they're not on the right path, it's a slightly higher tariff of 12.5%"

In advance of the third bilateral negotiating round, Ambassador Greer met with President Sheinbaum at the National Palace to discuss progress in negotiations related to the USMCA Joint Review.

Today, Ambassador Greer issued a statement after President Trump exercised his authority under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930 to impose additional 50% tariffs on certain Canadian goods to offset Canada’s discriminatory treatment of U.S. exports.

Digital Trade: Brazilian courts have issued secret orders directing U.S. technology companies, including X, Meta, and Google, to remove certain political content, suspend accounts belonging to U.S. residents, and prohibit the platforms from disclosing these orders to profile owners.
To enforce compliance, Brazilian courts have also subjected U.S. technology companies to daily non-compliance fines or required them to cease operations in Brazil.
