So let’s be clear: decolonization is a violent phenomenon. Decolonization means waging a war for independence. It means a people becoming conscious of themselves as a people, separating from their colonizer and all of its institutions and establishing their own governance.

Some portion of the U.S. left understands that the US is a settler colonial entity, but a tiny fraction of even that portion will acknowledge the solution to that beyond vague gestures toward “decolonization.” Thus the only option becomes participation in settler elections.
