#Tradwives# is a class issue: My great-grandmother died when my granny was 9. My granny was put in a Magdalene Laundry at 15. My mother left Ireland at 17 because De Valera's poncing around islolationism meant there were no jobs. That's just my maternal line. I had to work, even after I had children, just like my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother before me. Because I'm working class. I was lucky, I had my mum and so did my kids. Every single woman in my family worked. They had to. This whole #Tradwives# debate means nothing to me, and every other working class woman, because I did not have the choice to stay at home anyway. If women do have the choice, and want to stay at home with their children, the Government should move mountains to accommodate them. Children are our future. Mothers make that happen, with the backup of fathers. Other than that this is all a very middle class conversation.
