This Week’s ChatGPT Feature Drop - Oct 9: ChatGPT continues to get better every week. Here are some big ships and little ships from the last two weeks: 🚢 1/ GPT-6 and Intelligent UI: Now available to everyone in ChatGPT. The new model is great and it's extremely visual and interactive, making it easier to learn complex topics. You don't have to select anything for this to work. Just ask a question to ChatGPT and it's available to you. 2/ Finances for Free users: All of our Free and Go users in the US can connect ChatGPT to their financial accounts and ask questions. "What subscriptions am I paying for that I should cancel?", "Where would be best for me to cut back?". "Any charges that look off?" 3/ Voice with plugins: Voice mode in ChatGPT now works with plugins like email and calendar. Catch up on your inbox or check your schedule while you’re out for a walk or on a drive. Just ask tap the voice button and then "What emails have I forgot to respond to this week?" 🛥️ 4/ Easier iteration on your writing drafts: We've made writing edits easier to scan in ChatGPT. When you ask for a revision on some writing, it's easier to see what changed. 5/ Document scanning on iOS: Scan multiple pages into a single PDF, right in the ChatGPT app. Open ChatGPT, hit the + button, "Camera", and select the scan option. 6/ Favoriting: If you’re shopping around and you see something you like you can now save it to Favorites and come back to it later. 7/ Flashcards: Upload a file (maybe some course notes, or a practice exam) and just ask ChatGPT to create flashcards for you to help you learn the material. Great way to practice!

This week's ChatGPT feature drop - Sept 11: 1/ We upgraded ChatGPT Images: it's much faster, more precise at edits, and better at understanding complex instructions. It's remarkable how much people love generating images, and it's only accelerating! 2/ Two fun features on the iOS app: when you send a message, the animation is faster and smoother. You can also pull down from anywhere in the conversation to start a new chat. 3/ When ChatGPT creates a file for you – a note, a document, a presentation or a spreadsheet – it's now much easier to share it. You can give other email addresses view or edit rights, and they'll see those files in their ChatGPT Library. 4/ We've improved 'location' use in answers (with user permission). A few weeks ago we improved the use of time in answers. Now, "what events are happening in my neighborhood" should be a lot better. 5/ Voice got smarter - When you select the 'higher intelligence' options in Voice, you can now use GPT-6 Astra, our latest frontier model. Warning, it's slow, but it's the best intelligence, hands-free. We're making answers better, and making the app much easier to use! 🚀

following up after astra launch week and the navier-stokes announcement i wanted to share a little bit about how we think about and build for the over 1 billion people who use chatgpt every week, most of whom use it for free. we’re on a mission to distribute the benefits of agi, and i think this is the most impactful way to do that: giving people as much access as we can safely and feasibly distribute. we want to scale the utility that everyone gets from ai. over the past 6 months, we've been working to bring the greatest possible capabilities to the broadest possible set of users, including both free and paying users. of course there are some practical limitations and we can’t ship the largest models to everyone, but since march (gpt-5.3 instant), we’ve improved the default chatgpt experience meaningfully: - responses with a major factual error are down 65%, and they are down 72% in high stakes categories like finance - gpt-5.6 sol at instant and gpt-5.6 luna at medium are smarter than o3 at high reasoning effort, our frontier reasoning model from 17 months ago, while being considerably faster, 30%+ faster time to last token (evaluated via GPQA diamond) - chatgpt is far more usable and enjoyable while bringing extreme sycophancy down 80% and overall sycophancy down 83% - on our high-stakes medical eval, chatgpt produced 83% fewer answers flagged for hallucinations, resulting in hundreds of millions of better health conversations per month - we're seeing people find more ways to use chatgpt. for a recently joined cohort, we saw the number of use cases pursued at least three times weekly go up 20-30% not only have we improved the default chatgpt experience dramatically, we’ve also expanded access significantly for all. free users now: - have access to unlimited text chats - can use higher reasoning effort - now have access to automations, letting them schedule tasks to happen later - have access to better memory through dreaming. this allows chat to personalize much more effectively we’re always looking for ways to expand access to the billion+ people who use our product weekly. this is the master plan: bring the default experience as close to the capability frontier as possible, expand access to everyone, making intelligence maximally abundant, and make our product much more usable. this last point, usability, is something we’ve been focusing on as we bring personal agi to everyone. the current top of the line capabilities are staggering, but only the savviest users and insiders know how to use them. our vision is of a progressive, model assisted, onboarding to agi. chatgpt will guide people from all walks of life to the highest utility applications of ai for them. this really is the only way – we think technology that is hard to learn ultimately fails to reach a broad audience. your personal agi will just understand your goals, and automatically use the right set of features and capabilities to get things done for you lots more to come soon. onwards to scaling utility for all

This video perfectly encapsulates why it’s been fun and meaningful to work on this technology. There are lots of important societal questions ahead with AI. But what I appreciate about this video is it speaks to something simpler: our sense of wonder, creativity, and possibility. Having a young kid has reminded me what it feels like to invent whole worlds out of almost nothing (most recently tunnels and forts). This video I think brings out the kid in all of us. This week’s ChatGPT feature drop - Aug 28: The team won't let me take a week off with these posts. Here's what we shipped 🚀 this week: 1/ Scheduled tasks for free users: Now anyone can create recurring tasks for ChatGPT. "Every Thursday, tell me about cool events happening this weekend nearby". 2/ Stickers: Use Imagegen to turn any photo into a sticker pack to share on iMessage or WhatsApp. If you like stickers in iMessage, this one's for you. 3/ Save temp chats: By popular request, you can now save a temporary chat to your sidebar after you've started it. You can also choose to use memory for temp chat. It's a nice quality of life improvement! 4/ Multiple accounts for Google plugins: Lots of people ask ChatGPT questions about their email and calendar (only available for paid users for now). You can now add more Google accounts so you can ask about all your accounts! 5/ Voice widgets in lock screen: Voice conversations now show things like weather and sports in the iOS Live Activity, even when your screen is locked. This week’s ChatGPT feature drop - Aug 21: Another Friday, another roundup of what we shipped this week: 1/ Recent photos: Long press on + menu to quickly attach recents on iOS - this is a fun, power user feature. just beautiful design! also a handy shortcut. 2/ Time: We made it so ChatGPT better understands your current time. It was surprisingly bad at this before, for some interesting, complex reasons. Now it's better! 3/ Long convo loading: Long conversations load and run faster on Less waiting = better. 4/ 'No internet' errors: We show clearer updates in the UI when you’re waiting for an internet connection. It's so frustrating when ChatGPT times out. Now at least you'll know why, when it's the internet. thanks to the crew that keeps shipping every week and hope you all enjoy 🚀

This week's ChatGPT feature drop - Aug 14: 1/ Quizzes - "Quiz me on [topic]" will now automatically generate quizzes right in Chat. Learn any topic! 2/ Reservation search - "I'm looking for a reservation for two next Saturday for a place with a great outdoor patio". Nice thing is you can just describe what you want. 3/ Google Drive for Paid Users - You can now add Google Drive files to your ChatGPT Library. That makes it easy to ask ChatGPT questions about those files. Just hit the + menu and "Add from Library" 4/ Suggestions for Paid Users - Paid users will see high quality suggestions on the home page of ChatGPT We're continuing to make answers better, allow you to pull in the right documents, and more easily discover what Chat can do. This week's ChatGPT feature drop - Aug 7: 1/ Rich formatting in our web composer – When you paste in emails or documents, our composer will retain the formatting; copying and pasting is so common, we should have done this a while ago! 2/ Updated model for paid users – GPT 5.6 Sol is more consistent across quick chats and deeper reasoning. You'll now get a slider that lets you choose how much thought ChatGPT puts into a response. The haptics (vibrations) on mobile slider are fun! 3/ Unlimited text messages - Free users will get GPT 5.6 Luna with unlimited text messages. More intelligence for all. Rolling out soon. 4/ Fast Android Camera – We've made it a lot faster on Android to tap "camera" in ChatGPT to take a new photo and ask a question. 5/ Voice x Files - You can now upload files and ask questions in our new ChatGPT voice experience powered by GPT-Live. Today we launched the new ChatGPT Voice experience! ChatGPT can now listen and speak at the same time, making it feel much more like a real conversation. It's smarter, a better listener, and more natural to talk to— powered by our newest generation of voice models, GPT-Live. It's been a privileged to watch @kundan2510 @athyuttamre @ding_ran and their teams bring it to life. Give it a try by opening the ChatGPT app, and tapping the voice button in the bottom right corner!

We're making a small update to the model picker in ChatGPT! We know it's critical to a lot of people's work, and that we have a lot of paying users who care deeply about this one, so wanted to take some time to detail out the tweak. One important point upfront – you'll still have access to the same models and reasoning levels, besides the removal of thinking-light (used by less than 1% of our paid users). You'll see an updated list of options (similar to how Codex works): - Instant - Medium (Thinking-Standard) - High (Thinking-Extended) - Extra High (Thinking-Heavy) [for pro users] - Pro (with option to choose Pro-Standard or Pro-Extended) [for pro users] The intent is to make it easier to choose the balance of speed and effort that works best for your task. We also took into account community feedback to make sure: a) Thinking-heavy is easily accessible b) Pro standard and Pro extended are easily accessible c) We clearly communicate these changes Given that, here are some release notes detailing the updates - Give it a try, it's rolling out today, and we're always open to feedback, we know it's important to get it right!
