When you understand how the model works, this is just part of the game. Premiums will never go down, only up. This is how they make money. These same plans will then deny care and often limited networks. We don’t even take a single one of them in our practice. Many pay worse than Medicare. Coverage doesn’t equal care. Pass it on.

My wife and I went to a new dentist when we first moved to town. He came highly recommended so we didn’t think twice. At the first appointment, he told me I had 7 cavities. He told my wife she had 2. My wife has never had a cavity in her life. But we reluctantly got them filled. After she got them filled, I scheduled my appointment. But then, we got skeptical. Life comes at you fast when you’re staring at a bill to fill 7 cavities. So I asked for a copy of the X-rays and sent them to my uncle who is a dentist in another state. He confirmed what we were starting to believe. That dentist was full of it. The x-rays were such low quality that you couldn’t confirm if I had even a single cavity. Let alone 7. We cancelled our appointment and found a new dentist. The new dentist said I didn’t have any. The experience still shocks me to this day. Makes you wonder, how much medical fraud is out there that no one knows about? Especially in dentistry

The more I think about the Jason Arday debacle the more it pisses me off. I was only a teen when I witnessed how my father, Shelby Steele, was forced out of his university for the crime of believing that blacks could achieve the American Dream without preferential treatment. My father was often voted as the best professor in his department and his specialty was the Russian novel. When I would go with him around town, former students would come up and thank him for pushing them to their limits. But when he began to publish his thoughts on race in Harper's and Commentary magazine, the white guilt-black power elites at the university decided that he had to go. Today that university is now a major bastion of social justice warriors, and to what good? Since my father is a man of merit, he has survived and thrived despite repeated attempts to cancel him. Arday will survive by debasing himself into further victimization. The price of that bargain, paid by our society and, most of all, by our students, has been enormous. Can you imagine how low my father would have had to sink to reach Arday's level? How much he would have had to betray his merit and talent? Do you not see how evil race is? To rely on even an inch of it robs one of the will they need to push their talents to the highest of heights. Even the devil at the crossroads didn't ask for that much. Think fixing site neutrality will fix consolidation? Not if you don’t fix 340B also. This paper from @MelindaBBuntin and colleagues shows that 340B hospitals increased the share of services delivered at off-campus hospital departments from 18.2% in 2016 to 24.1% in 2022; non-340B hospitals barely moved. Even newly opened sites paid at “site-neutral” rates grew faster at 340B hospitals. This is a clear sign that even with site neutrality, hospitals will continue to consolidate.

Yes. It makes complete sense in retrospect to shut the entire nation down at the exact same time to prevent a respiratory pandemic that was going to come to your city at some point in the future anyway. So Pittsburgh with zero cases had its hospitals shut down in March 2020 and people having heart attacks died at home because they were too scared to come to the hospital. This was dumb. But it did give us lots of TikTok videos to bolster the public spirit 🙄. And especially when you have the caliber of people we currently have making public health decisions, constitutional rights should absolutely be inviolable.

My god. The U.K., man... A journalist asked Arday about his fraud/plagiarism/issues, and Arday went to the police claiming that he was being harassed. So, citing Arday likely lying about the journalist's actions hurting his mental health, they told the journalist to back off.

This would not have come to light if not for the work of @TracyBethHoeg at the FDA who was fired shortly after. Unsurprisingly - story was ignored by the “science” media

After Obamacare, Medicaid spending almost tripled because it was free federal money for states. Since 90% of the Medicaid expansion after Obama is funded by the Feds, there was no real incentive to police the spend. The other ignored story is that this data has been kept under wraps and accessible to only a few academic centers. Academics with access for some reason never chose to publish on amount of Medicaid fraud/waste in the program. 🤔

The American public should be able to understand that too-broad government subsidy transfers massive amounts of their tax dollars to universities/corporations and leads to run away price inflation. If you want cheaper GLP1s , remove the government assist for everyone but those who are truly indigent.
